For this VFX project, I created a short magical energy sequence that focuses on the appearance, buildup, and release of supernatural power. The scene begins with a single character standing in a dark, empty environment, which creates a sense of isolation and anticipation. As the effect develops, purple energy circles, glowing symbols, vertical light beams, smoke, and particle trails gradually appear around the character, transforming the space into a ritual-like battlefield.
My main goal was to explore how visual effects can communicate power and tension without relying on dialogue. I used purple as the dominant color because it suggests mystery, danger, and supernatural energy. The glowing circular patterns and repeated vertical beams were designed to feel like a magic formation or summoning spell, while the smoke and particle movement help make the energy feel unstable and alive. The contrast between the dark environment and bright VFX elements also helps guide the viewer’s attention toward the center of the action.
Technically, this project allowed me to practice combining multiple VFX elements, including particle effects, lighting, smoke, energy trails, and timing. I focused on building the effect in stages: first creating a quiet atmosphere, then introducing the magic circle, increasing the intensity, and finally ending with an explosive release of energy. This progression was important because I wanted the animation to feel like it had a clear beginning, buildup, climax, and resolution.
Overall, this project represents my interest in cinematic game-style effects, especially fantasy combat and supernatural energy attacks. Through this piece, I wanted to create a dramatic moment where the environment, lighting, and VFX all work together to show the power of a character’s attack. The final result is a short visual sequence that emphasizes atmosphere, motion, and the feeling of energy being charged and released
